Description
Girl Combing Her Hair is a famous oil painting, originally by American artist William MacGregor Paxton in 1909. Paxton was deeply opposed to modern art, feeling that it lacked beauty and craftsmanship.
Girl Combing Her Hair , from 1909, underscores Paxton’s technical expertise as well as his continuing allegiance to detail, high finish and solid draftsmanship, the legacy of his earlier academic training under Jean-Léon Gerôme. Paxton’s keen sense of design and his emphasis on structure was also inspired by the domestic images of the seventeenth-century Dutch painter, Jan Vermeer.
The painting has the style of impressionism. The painting now is collected by private as collection.
